Barbecue Lentil & Bean Burger

A hearty barbecue lentil and bean burger made with wholesome grains, oats, and smoky spices, grilled and served in a toasted gluten-free bun with fresh tomato, lettuce, red onion, avocado, and creamy barbecue mayo.

INGREDIENTS

275g Onions – diced

1700g White Beans – drained & mashed

210g Gluten-free Rolled Oats

390g Red Lentils

390g Barley – cooked

50g Major Barbecue Mari Base

108ml Vegetable Oil

25 Gluten-free Burger Buns

1900g Tomatoes – sliced

250g Lettuce – washed

375g Red Onions – sliced

500g Avocado – sliced

350g Major Barbecue Base

625g Vegan Mayonnaise

METHOD

  1. Fry the onions in the vegetable oil until golden.

  2. Place the lentils, barley, onions, beans. Oats and barbecue mari base in a bowl.

  3. Mix well and store into the fridge to firm up.

  4. Mould into 125g burgers and store ready for use.

  5. Toast the buns and grill the burgers.

  6. Mix the mayonnaise and 35g Major Barbecue Mari Base.

  7. Spread the buns with mayo mix layer up with lettuce tomatoes, avocado and onion.

  8. Once the burger is grilled brush with some of the barbecue Mari Base.

  9. Place on the top bun.
